When the room
goes quiet.

Someone has to own what comes next. That's the moment I've spent a career learning to read. First in the trench, now at the board table.

Board & Advisory Work

What a board actually gets when I take a seat.

I hold no more than five board seats at any one time, and take on up to three advisory engagements. Not because I'm precious about it, but because a seat you take seriously eats real hours, and I'd rather do five well than a dozen halfway. Everyone I commit to gets me fully, without reservation.

Thirty years in, I'd argue the operating experience matters less as a résumé than as a set of scars. I've sat where your executives sit, accountable for the number and answering for it when it slipped. So when the room goes quiet and everyone is quietly doing the math on who owns the downside, I already know the feeling. I've been the one who owned it.

The most valuable thing I bring to a board is not the answer. It's the question no one else in the room thought to ask.

The Room Goes Quiet

Every leader hits the moment. The stakes are real, the room goes quiet, and every eye turns to you. This is a book about what happens in that silence, and why most of us aren't ready for it. I wrote it because I lived it more than once. Out now in hardcover, everywhere books are sold.

01

Business Health & Strategic Direction

Most strategies aren't wrong. They're unowned. I pressure-test direction and find where the business is quietly leaking health.

02

Go-to-Market & Sales Strategy

High-stakes deals go to the seller who owns the risk, not the one with the best feature list. Including government contractors building a commercial motion for the first time.

03

Executive Leadership & Team Effectiveness

Even good teams carry friction they've stopped noticing. I surface it, then counsel the team on what to do about it.

04

AI Strategy & Adoption

Not a technology briefing. What is your organization for, once competence gets cheap?

05

Execution & Operating Discipline

Plans don't die in strategy. They die in the handoffs. I advise on the rhythms and decision rights that keep intent intact.

06

CEO Counsel & Critical Transitions

Individual counsel for executives working at the edge of their experience. Confidential, direct, no agenda.
